Think of Southwold and you think of Adnams, it is
the local business with the national profile. Adnams
believes that being based in this wonderful part of
Suffolk has actually helped their business to maintain
its character and individuality. Adnams also points
to fine transport links across the U.K. and into Europe,
with the A12 and A14 trunk roads, and Inter-city rail
links providing good access to London, Birmingham and
beyond. The near by ports of Felixstowe and Harwich
offering the ideal gateway to Europe.
Adnams is a business built around family values, today
still providing work as it has done for decades to
a high percentage of the local community. Fathers,
sons, daughters, and grandsons all play a valuable
role in the high profile of Adnams. The many Adnams
pubs and restaurants throughout the area, (80 in all)
offer their own individuality, and are managed quite
independently.
Thousands of people each year combine a visit to the
sublime Southwold beaches, pier, and harbour, with
a visit to the Adnams wine shop or its warehouse
sales. Always finding some excellent wines and beers
to please
every taste. It is the individual distinctiveness,
coupled with some wonderful products that have enabled
Adnams to increase its trade on average 15% each
year. The Adnams wines, Adnams beers, bitter, broadside,
and fisherman’s, amongst others are sold from
Edinburgh to London and Cornwall. Adnams also ensuring
a place on the ‘House of Commons’ wine
list. Quality has meant that the customer has continued
to say “a pint of Adnams please”, time
and time again.
In 2003 as Adnams reaches out across other parts of
the world, including New Zealand and Canada. Adnams
reflects, to a wider world much of what is good about
Southwold and Suffolk. Thanks to this combination Adnams
is a very different business.
